Family Intervention is the second part of the work we do at ESTHERS Children. This is a very important and integral part of our work with the children at the Quiet Strength Community Center. Each Wednesday afternoon our Brazilian Project Director has a support group for the moms where they have a devotion and prayer time, are educated on raising their children in a Godly manner, and participate in an art class where they are learning how to hand-paint various linens, crochet, and bake and developing the skills and tools to be a part of our future micro-enterprising shop and bakery. Once a month we celebrate their birthdays. Just like their daughters, none of them have ever celebrated their birthday, had a birthday cake to eat or presents to open. Our desire is for them to feel special and loved by someone just like their daughters.
Each Friday our staff, together with our volunteer seminary student Iraldo, visit the families of the girls that participate in our program to talk with them, counsel them and pray with them. We view this as one of the most important pieces of this ministry. If we want to see the life of the child transformed we must work together with her family as well to have a lasting impact on her and her family as well. Our philosophy at ESTHERS Children is to transform the life of a child and she will then be the catalyst to bring transformation to her family that will then be the catalyst to transform the entire community.
