ESTHERS Children was founded in May of 2006 by Emily and Jennifer Sutherland. We focus on doing prevention work with children living in at-risk situations globally that have little hope for a promising future. We use a 6-step program to see children restored physically, spiritually, emotionally, mentally and intellectually through community outreach, family intervention and substitute family homes. In March of 2007 we opened our first substitute family home, Esther's House, in Recife, Brazil. It is currently home to nine girls. In October of 2007, we began working in a local community with Project Potyra, in Cha de Cruz, serving more than 600 children and their families. ESTHERS Children is currently working on establishing our second International Partnership in Lima, Peru. We plan to partner with a local church and existing NGO to do community outreach amongst the poorest of the poor. Our goal is to formally establish this partnership in 2010.
We are a Christian organization working in partnership with local churches, volunteer groups and individuals in the United States and abroad. We are primarily funded through individuals and churches. Through these partnerships we strive to transform communities, families, and children.
If you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday. Isaiah 58:10 | |
